If you ever get a chance, try Barkeeper's Friend. My mom used to use this on our pots and pans with lovely results. I use it around the house, especially on our very old porcelain sinks. The polish has worn off and so they tend to "absorb" stains ( a real pain in the neck). This is the only thing I've found that will get rid of rust, hard water stains & grime. It's great stuff :)
References :
C.L.R. should do the trick. Just make sure to wash it really well afterwards with lots of soap and water to remove all chemicals. Or, at the risk of sounding stupid, I've heard that people in some eastern countries use Coca-Cola to eat through crud in pots & pans. Worth a shot, I guess.
References :
~~I would just fill it with water and put a cup of white vinegar in it. Let it soak and hour or so and just wash out, the water deposits will be gone.~~
